
On July 3, the Shien-Ming Wu School of Intelligent Engineering convened an all-staff meeting to reinforce professional ethics among faculty and outline key priorities for the coming period. The gathering, chaired by Academician Chen Xiaoqi, Dean of the School, aimed to deepen the implementation of the Central Eight-Point Guidelines, strengthen long-term mechanisms for ethical development in education, and promote the spirit of dedicated educators.
Ethical Awareness and Educational Mission Highlighted by Dean

Dean Chen Xiaoqi addressed the faculty on the critical importance of ethical conduct in teaching and mentoring. Using real-world cases as references, he underscored the need for all educators to remain true to their original mission—nurturing students with integrity and dedication. He further emphasized integrating moral education into all aspects of teaching and research, calling for continuous improvement in the quality of talent development.
Party Secretary Delivers Lesson on Ethics and Discipline

Zhang Zheng, the School’s Secretary of the Party General Branch, led a session titled “Upholding the Eight-Point Guidelines and Cultivating Professional Ethics.” He elaborated on the core principles of the guidelines and called for strict compliance with institutional discipline, urging faculty to strengthen their ethical awareness and work conduct. Secretary Zhang acknowledged the faculty’s recent efforts and achievements, while also outlining key tasks such as talent recruitment, communication strategies, and campus safety to ensure a clean, upright, and secure environment conducive to the School’s high-quality development.
Executive Dean Outlines Administrative and Financial Measures

Executive Dean Yu Zhuliang introduced specific arrangements regarding space and financial management. He stressed the importance of adhering to university and school-level financial regulations to ensure compliant, planned, and effective use of resources. Dean Yu also provided guidance on optimizing the allocation of laboratory and office spaces, calling for scientific planning and efficient utilization.
Deputy Deans Present Key Initiatives in Their Respective Areas

Deputy Deans also shared updates and plans for their domains: Deputy Dean Chan Patrick Pak Kei outlined priorities in undergraduate education, thanked faculty for their contributions, and detailed preparations for IET international accreditation and the upcoming undergraduate teaching evaluation. Deputy Dean Xie Longhan reported on the School’s 2025 research targets, encouraging faculty to engage in structured research initiatives and deepen industry-academia collaboration to enhance innovation and application of research outcomes. Deputy Dean Xu Dabo emphasized improving the quality of graduate student enrollment and implementing more refined management of the cultivation process.
The meeting also recognized the School’s steady progress achieved through collective effort. Notably, the School ranked first in the university’s 2024 Undergraduate Teaching Quality Report, reflecting solid outcomes in talent development. In addition, the successful hosting of the “9th Nonlinear Control Conference and International Conference on Super Robots”—the School’s first high-level international academic event—marked a significant milestone in boosting its global academic reputation and advancing international exchange and research innovation.
The meeting served to align vision, build consensus, and chart a clear path forward. Faculty and staff pledged to maintain their motivated and pragmatic approach, working together to open a new chapter in the high-quality development of the Shien-Ming Wu School of Intelligent Engineering.
