Personal profile

Zhuang Huiping is Associate Professor and PhD Supervisor at the Shien-Ming Wu School of Intelligent Engineering, South China University of Technology. He received his PhD from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, in 2021. He has led over 10 projects, including a subproject of the National Key R&D Program of China (2030), NSFC projects, Guangdong Provincial Surface Projects, CCF-Tencent Rhino-Bird Fund Scholar Reward Program, and Xiaomi Fund. He has been awarded the National Outstanding Overseas Student Award and the Guangzhou Youth Top Talent Award, and was invited as an Overseas Faculty at NTU for 2025–2026 (to teach course EE6430).

Specializing in Efficient Artificial Intelligence (including efficient continual learning, large models, and embodied intelligence), he has published over 80 papers. He proposed Analytic Continual Learning, pioneering a refined subfield in continual learning, which has seen over 15 publications at top conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, and CVPR in the past two years (recently extended to large models and embodied AI). His related achievements have received a CCF-C International Conference Best Paper Award and the Singapore PREMIA Best Student Paper Achievement Award. He has led students to win the CVPR 2025 Competition First Prize, the National First Prize in the 'Challenge Cup' National College Student Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Competition, the First Prize in the China Robot and Artificial Intelligence Competition, and the Guangdong Provincial Gold Award in the China International College Student Innovation Competition.

He has served as Co-Chair for international/domestic conferences, is a member of the CSIG Youth Working Committee and the VALSE Executive Committee (EAC), serves as Guest Editor for a JCR Q1 journal, and as Area Chair for ACL and other CCF-A conferences. He received the Outstanding Reviewer Award at ICML 2022.

Our laboratory, the MIAA Lab (Machine Intelligence and Advanced Adaptation Lab), welcomes self-motivated students to apply and join us. Undergraduate students from all grades are also encouraged to participate in our research activities.
