
On the morning of June 15th, the 10th anniversary celebration of the South China Advanced Institute for Soft Matter Science and Technology (AISMST) was held at the Guangzhou International Campus. XU Yong, Vice President of South China University of Technology, and Professor Cheng, Dean of AISMST, delivered speeches as organizers. More than ten academicians, including the American Academy of Engineering, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, attended the meeting. More than 200 experts, scholars, and teachers and students from universities and research institutes home and abroad, as well as the departments of the university, gathered together to celebrate the ten-year anniversary.
Firstly, Vice President Xu, on behalf of SCUT, extended warm congratulations to all teachers and students of AISMST, paid high respect to the founding team led by Prof. Cheng, and sincerely thanked the global experts and scholars who have long supported the construction of the AISMST.
At the celebration, Prof. Cheng reviewed the journey of the establishment of the institute from scratch. Ten years is not only a summary of the past, but also a rare opportunity for introspection. He emphasized that profound reflection is the core force driving personal growth, social progress, and national development. To this end, he issued a sincere proposal to the attending guests, urging everyone to provide constructive suggestions and help inject a continuous stream of momentum into the long-term development of the institute.
At the celebration, congratulatory letters from different collaborating institutions were gathered. Eight partner colleges and schools, including the School of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering at Peking University, the Department of Polymer Science at Fudan University, the School of Polymer Science and Engineering at Sichuan University, and the Department of Materials and Chemical Engineering at Soochow University, sent congratulatory messages, highly affirming the pioneering contributions of AISMST in the field of soft matter over the past decade.
