Speakers Biography:

Professor Paul Topham is currently the Head of School of Infrastructure and Sustainable Engineering at Aston University in the UK. Professor Topham's research mainly focuses on the synthesis, development, and application of ordered polymer materials, including smart polymers, highly biocompatible and biodegradable materials, and polymer brushes. He uses controllable polymerization technology (a combination of various organic chemical synthesis techniques) to manufacture new polymer materials. These new materials can exhibit different characteristics based on the material itself and the environment. His current research interests include organic solar cells, rubber, electrospinning, microphase separation, X-ray scattering, and bioplastic technology. Since joining Aston University in 2008 (with the 5th highest graduate employment rate in the UK, The Guardian), he has received over £ 17 million in research funding; And serve as the head of a large EU joint project (1.4 million euros). His research work has published a series of papers in well-known journals in the fields of materials and polymers, such as JACSAdv MaterNano LettersACS nanoMacromoleculesPolym ChemLangmuirSoft Matter;  And was invited to write two book chapters (published by Wiley Publishing). Professor Paul Topham is a member of the UK Polymer Council and has served as the head of its Youth Association for 5 years; Secretary of the Polymer Branch of IUPAC (International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry); Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC); Received the Macro Group UK Young Researchers Medal in 2014; Received the IUPAC Young Scientist Award for the Periodic Table of Elements in 2019 (representing the element hydrogen).
