Abstract

This presentation discusses key principles and best practices for publishing and reviewing manuscripts in reputable Operations Management (OM) journals. It highlights the importance of minimizing personal bias throughout the review process and underscores the critical role of constructive, actionable feedback in enhancing the quality of scholarly research. In addition, the presentation provides an update on the status and editorial direction of one of the leading OM journals, the Journal of Operations Management. Overall, the presentation offers practical insights for researchers and reviewers seeking to promote a fair, rigorous, and high-quality peer review process in OM research. 

Biography

Dr. Guanyi Lu is the Larry Giunipero Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management in the Department of Business Analytics, Information Systems and Supply Chain at Florida State University's Herbert Wertheim College of Business. His areas of expertise are retail operations, supply chain structure and integration, healthcare operations, and information and communication technology. Lu's research has appeared in Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Journal of Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, Decision Sciences among others. He serves as a Department Editor (Operational Systems) for Journal of Operations Management and as an associate editor for both the Decision Sciences Journal and the Journal of Supply Chain Management. His service was recognized by the 2018 Best Reviewer Award of Decision Sciences, the 2020 Best Reviewer Award of Journal of Operations Management, the 2022 Best Reviewer Award of Journal of Supply Chain Management, and the 2022 Best Associate Editor Award of Journal of Operations Management.
