On June 13th,the New Zealand company Pokeno East and a SCUT alumnus Wu Jiandong donated the right to use a 450-mu mixed-use land in New Zealand to the South China University of Technology (SCUT). Zhang Xichun, the Chancellor of SCUT, signed adonation memorandum of understanding with Wu Jiandong on behalf of the university.
On the morning of June 13th local time, Chinese Premier of the State Council Li Qiang began his official visit to New Zealand at the invitation. As a significant accompanying event to this visit, on the 14th, China and New Zealand jointly organized the China-New Zealand Education Development Forum.
From May 26th to June 1st, Li Weiqing, Vice President of South China University of Technology (SCUT), was invited to lead a delegation to visit New Zealand and Australia, participating in multiple bilateral exchange activities including the Sixth New Zealand-China Higher Education Forum, the Australia-China University Presidents Forum, and the China-Victoria Universities’ Dialogue.
