Innovation Factory

Based on the Innovation Factory, Guangzhou International Campus has laid out cutting-edge disciplines to create first-class achievements and train future-leading international talents of emerging engineering disciplines.

Two experimental bases, the Innovation Factory 1.0 and 2.0, are deployed in the public laboratory building D3.

Focusing on general training, the Innovation Factory 1.0, which is also called the International Advanced Public Basic Laboratory Center, covers 52 laboratories of chemistry, physics, electronics and electricians, computers and other types with 2120 sets of equipment.

Adopting the international standard of EHS (Environment, Health, Safety) concept, the Chemical Center has stressed the humanization and modularization in its indoor layout and design, and has therefore become an excellent example of “3.0 +” Chemical Laboratories in China’s colleges and universities.

Adhering to the teaching concept of outcome-based education (OBE), the Physical Center has greatly improved the modularization, enlightening teaching, teaching interactivity and the development of experimental projects.

To be specific, the Physical Center has advocated mixed teaching models such as “flipped classroom” for the first time and implemented “Small class to explore”, effectively cultivating the students’ experimental skills and thinking ability.

The management system of Electrical and Electronic Center can automatically collect experimental data, analyze and evaluate experimental results, and conduct multi-dimensional analysis of students and their experimental projects, so as to optimize the effect of experimental courses.

The Computer Center, which is equipped with computer rooms such as Apple Workstation CAD and Dell Workstation CAD and remote cloud desktops, has a total of 692 computer devices and servers.

Through centralized deployment and cloud data storage, the data security of the Campus is fully guaranteed and the computer efficiency is greatly improved.

Focusing on professional training, the Innovation Factory 2.0, which is also called the Engineering Innovation Training Center, is designed with “one factory and three platforms”, including more than 20 training modules such as “intelligent robots”, “unmanned driving”, “machine learning”, “3D printing”, “digital processing” and “traditional processing”.

Adopting the management model of 24-hour “Intelligent Library”, the Innovation Factory 2.0 has introduced the latest development of industry and technology and the latest requirements of the industry for talent training into the theoretical teaching, and introduced the advanced manufacturing technologies such as robots, digitization and new materials into the practical teaching, so as to improve the students’ ability to solve complex engineering problems.

Focusing on mass entrepreneurship and innovation training, the Innovation Factory 3.0 in the building E5 has given full play to the unique advantages of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the international resources of the Campus.

By providing students with an inter-disciplinary, inter-school, cross-campus and cross-border interactive model, the Innovation Factory 3.0 has integrated the training chain and innovation chain to guide students to explore cutting-edge technologies, improve innovation abilities, and to be active in competitions and business start-ups.
