Personal Profile

Jin Zhanpeng is a tenured professor at South China University of Technology, a 'Xinshi' named professor, a doctoral supervisor, the vice dean of the Future Technology College, the deputy director of the Ministry of Education Engineering Research Center for Human Data Perception, and the deputy director of the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Digital Twin Humans. Executive Member of the Ubiquitous Computing Special Committee of the China Computer Federation. Formerly served as a tenured associate professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the State University of New York at Buffalo, director of the Graduate School, and director of the Cyber-Med Laboratory. Senior Member of ACM and IEEE. The current main research interests include ubiquitous computing, human-computer interaction, intelligent perception, active health, artificial intelligence, and the application of related technologies in smart healthcare, biometric recognition, and the Internet of Things. He/She has served as a project review expert for institutions such as the National Science Foundation (NSF) of the United States, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) of the United States, and the Ontario Research Foundation (ORF) of Canada. Currently serves as the associate editor of four international journals (ACM Computing Surveys, ACM IMWUT, Elsevier Computers in Biology and Medicine) Reviewer or technical committee member for CCF (TPCI) and over 30 international journals and conferences. More than 100 papers have been published, among which the main works have been published in journals such as ACM IMWUT/UbiComp, ACM Computing Surveys, IEEE TIFS, TMC, TIM, TBME, etc.

Representative Research Achievements

The research team led by him has pioneered several influential research achievements worldwide, including brainprint biometric recognition technology based on cognitive neuroscience, biometric recognition and medical data encryption based on electrocardiogram, security authentication disease monitoring and gesture interaction based on smart headphones, and health monitoring and management based on mobile computing. These researches have been extensively reported by both domestic and international media, including Newsweek, Yahoo, Wired, Washington Post, U.S. News, Science Daily, and IEEE Spectrum. Among them, the brainprint recognition technology was featured in a special report by the National Science Foundation of the United States and was selected by BBC Science Focus as one of '22 Ideas That Will Change the World in the Future'.
