13,369 freshmen from 61 countries and regions attended the SCUT Opening Ceremony 2020 on the three campuses accordingly. Attendees included Wang Xi, Vice Governor of Guangdong Provincial Government, Chen Anming, Deputy Secretary General of Guangdong Provincial Government, Jing Lihu, Director General of Department of Education of Guangdong Province, and Wang Dong, Vice Mayor of Guangzhou Municipal Government. Attendees also included the leadership of SCUT, Zhang Xichun, Chairman of the University Council, Gao Song, President, Liu Qijin, Vice Chairman of the University Council and  Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of the University, Tao Shaojing and Mai Junhong, Vice Chairmans of the University Council, and Zhu Min, Li Zheng and Li Weiqing, Vice Presidents.
