Academician Yingjun Wang’s Paper on “Bioadaptability” was selected as one of the Third CAST Excellent Research Papers
Recently, the Third CAST Excellent Research Papers award was announced by CHINA ASSOCIATION FOR SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (CAST). Academician Yingjun Wang’s paper Bioadaptability: An Innovative Concept for Biomaterials which was published in Journal of Materials Science & Technology was among the 95 selected papers. Academician Yingjun Wang has been engaged in biomaterial research for more than 30 years and has developed a variety of new biomaterials and realized engineering. During her researches on biocompatibility of biomaterials, Academician Wang found that “Biocompatibility is the basic requirement of biomaterials for tissue repair, but it has a certain limitation in explaining the interaction between the biomaterials and tissues, the development of the biomaterials and the phenomena involved in biomaterial-based tissue repair”. After a long period of research, Academician Wang innovatively proposed the concept of bioadaptability of biomaterials, providing a deeper and more comprehensive interpretation of the interactions between biomaterials and tissues beyond biocompatibility. This concept provides new enlightenment for studying the basic scientific problems in the process of tissue repair of biomedical materials, opens a new door for the research and design of new biomedical materials, and has aroused widespread interest in the international biomaterials community.
About the Author
