A new wave of technological revolution is profoundly reshaping the production and lifestyle of modern civilization. Higher education's mission is to seize technological opportunities and train innovative talents with forward-thinking and interdisciplinary thinking. The School of Future Technology (FT) at South China University of Technology is one of the first 12 Future Technology Institutes recognized by the Ministry of Education, officially established in January 2021. FT centered on artificial intelligence and interdisciplinary integration, is committed to developing students' abilities in generalizing meta-knowledge across disciplines, solving interdisciplinary problems, and fostering a spirit of exploratory innovation, thereby producing composite innovative talents equipped with a global vision and adaptability to future industrial.

In terms of teaching, FT focuses on building two majors: Artificial Intelligence, and Data Science and Big Data Technology. It explores innovative models of international education and collaborative talent cultivation, including establishing a scientific conjecture platform for interdisciplinary integration, building engineering practice platforms covering multiple sites, constructing cross-disciplinary teaching organizational forms, and integrating the full chain of industry-academia-research collaboration.

In terms of research, FT focuses on the deep integration of the digital and physical worlds, with strategic layouts in Digital Health and Low-Carbon Energy. It has established research teams in areas such as Digital Twins in Life Science, Proactive Health, Artificial Intelligence, and Smart Energy, promoting deep interdisciplinary integration and industry-academia-research collaboration to lead cutting-edge research, support industrial innovation, and empower future lifestyles.
