Li.lichengIntroduction:
Li Licheng, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor, emeritus dean of School of Electric Power, South China University of Technology. He received the B.S.E.E. degree in electrical engineering from the Tsinghua University in 1967.
He is a well-known expert on power system engineering and HVDC/HVAC technology, dedicate to power grid construction for a long period, made outstanding achievements in areas like HVDC transmission system, power system planning, power system operation and control. He has authored over 20 papers in his specialty areas. He published tens of engineering reports, 4 patents and co-authored one monograph.
He contributed much to the development of China’s high voltage transmission networks: he was involved and leading research and engineering activities of China’s first 330 kV, the first 500 kV HVAC, the first ±500 kV HVDC and the first ±800 kV UHVDC. Due to his marvelous contribution to promote the China’s power grid technology to advanced level in the world, he was awarded seven "Science and Technology Advancement Prize" by China ministries.
He is director of Chinese Society of Electrical Engineering, Vice Chairman of Theoretical Electrotechnics Study Committee and Transmission line Study Committee of CSEE, Standing Director of Guangdong Society of Electrical Engineering, Chairman of HVDC Transmission Commission. He is secretary-general of consulting group of China Southern Power Grid Company. He has held Professor’s positions in electrical engineering at several universities, including Tsinghua University, Chonging University.
