Wang Zhou was Elected as Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (FRSC)

    Recently, Wang Zhou who graduated from our college in 1995 was elected as Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (FRSC), which is Canada's highest honor for native scientists. He became a Canadian academician of both materials thereby. He is the academician of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and lifelong professor in the college of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

    Wang Zhou received a bachelor's degree from the School of Electronic Information and Communication (formerly Department of Electronic Information and Engineering) of Huazhong University of Science and Technology from 1989 to 1993, a master's degree from the School of Electronic and Information Engineering of South China University of Technology in 1995, and a doctor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 2001. Then he taught in succession at New York University and the University of Texas at Dallas. Since 2007, he has taught in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo, and is now a tenured professor at the University of Waterloo, Canada. He was elected Fellow of IEEE and Steacie Memorial Fellowship in 2014, which was awarded by David Johnston, Governor of Canada, in Rideau Hall, and was elected Primetime Engineering Emmy Award (Academy of Television Arts &Sciences) in 2015. He became the first Chinese scientist to win this honor in the history of Emmy Award. Then he was elected Fellow of Canadian Academy of Engineering and elected University Research Chair in University of Waterloo. Besides, he is the founder and Chief Science Officer of SSIMWAVE Inc.
