Introduction:He is now a professor at school of Electronic and Information Engineering, South China University. He has published more than 120 papers in the field of handwritten character recognition, pattern recognition, machine learning, image processing and intelligent system. Since 1998, he has been the principal investigator of more than 40 research projects. He is member of IEEE Computer Society, IEEE Communication Society, IEEE Signal Processing Society, China Image and Graphics Society, China Communication Society (Senior), China Image & Graphics Council, Guangdong Image & Graphics Council, the Cloud Computing Experts Committee of China Institute of Communications. He received the award of New Century Excellent Talent Program of MOE in 2006, the Guangdong Pearl River Distinguished Professor award in 2011, the first prize of Guangdong Science and Technology Progress Award in 2011, respectively. He served as Program Committee member for a number of international conferences, including IWFHR2006, ICMLC2007, ICFHR2008, ICDAR2009, ICMLC2009, ICPR2010, ICIG2011, ACPR2011, ICDAR2011, ICPR2012 et al. In recent years, he has been a reviewer for a number of international journals, including IEEE Trans. On SMC, IEEE Trans. on MM, Pattern Recognition, International Journal on Document Analysis and Recognition, Image and Vision Computing, Digital Signal Processing, Machine Vision and Applications, The Imaging Science Journal, Pattern Analysis & Applications Journal , NeuroComputing, Pattern Recognition Letters, Neural Processing Letters, Information Science, et. al.
