Introduction:

Shengming Jiang received his Bachelor's degree in Shanghai Maritime Institute, China, in 1988, Master (DEA in French) and Doctoral degrees in the University of Paris VI and University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-En-Yvelines, France, respectively in 1992 and 1995, all in computer science. From 1988 to 1990, he worked as an assistant engineer in the Nanjing Petrol Transportation Company, China. He was a research associate in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and the Computer Science Department, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, between February 1995 and August 1997. He was a member of technical staff in Centre for Wireless Communications, National University of Singapore, between September 1997 and July 2000, and a senior member of technical staff and the acting leader of the network strategic group between July 2001 and March 2003. He was an associate lead scientist and the leader of End-to-End QoS Laboratory in the Institute for Infocomm Research (I²R), Singapore, from October 2003 to September 2004. He was a principal lecture of the Faculty of Advanced Technology, the University of Glamorgan in the UK, between July 2007 and August 2009. Currently he is a professor in the School of Electronic and Information Engineering, South China University of Technology.

His research interest includes networking issues in both wired and wireless networks as well as mobile computing with more than 20 years of international R&D experiences in France, Hong Kong, Singapore, the UK and China. He led and participated in 12 R&D projects for networking technologies, such as “Provisioning of end-to-end QoS over Internet” (PI) founded by the Institute forCommunications Research (now called I²R),Singapore (April 2001-June 2003), “Optical Network Focused Interest Group (ONFIG)” founded by the Singapore National Scienceand Technology Board(September 2001 to September 2004), “Simulation testbed of UWB ad hoc networks” founded by the France Telecom R&D centre in China (August 2006–July 2008), the 863 project “Cross-layer optimization design for multi-hop wireless ad hoc networks” (Co-PI) founded by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China (August 2007–July 2009), the 973 project  “Theory and Method of Self-Risk Avoidance for Aviation in Low Attitude Complex Space” (Co-PI of one sub-theme for high mobility ad hoc networks) founded by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China (January 2011–August 2015).

So far he has published more than 100 papers, some of which were published in prestigious international journals and conferences such as IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications (J-SAC), IEEE Transactions on Communications, ACM SIGCOMM Computer Communication Review (CCR) and (Elsevier) Computer Networks, as well asIEEE INFOCOM, IEEE ICC, IEEE GLOBOCOM, IEEE WCNC and IEEE VTC etc. He was the organization chair of The IEEE International Conference on Communication System (ICCS) 2008 and the co-financial chair of IEEE International Conference on Mobile Data Management 2002, and servedas technical programme committee (TPC) members for more than 20 international conferences such as IEEE VTC, IEEE WCNC and IEEE ICCS, and IFIP MWCN and Networking etc.
