Introduction:

Dr. Lihong Ma received the B.S. degree in Radio Engineering in 1987, M.S. and Ph.D. degrees inCommunications and Electronic Systems in 1990 and 1999 respectively, all from South China University of Technology (SCUT), Guangzhou, China. During 1990~1993, she was a Novell Network and Database engineer, and a Research Assistant at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2000. She has been with the Institute of Radio Engineering which now the School of Electronic and Information Engineering, SCUT since 1994, and currently she is a Professor and Ph.D. supervisor.

Her research interests include signal analysis & object detection, video coding & transmission. She has published more than 40 research papers appeared in international journals and conferences, such as IEICE Trans. Info. & Syst., Patt. Recog. Lett., Electron. Lett., Elsevier J. Electron. Comm., J. Electron. (China), J. China Comm., and IEEE ICASSP, GLOBECOM, ICIP, SMC as well as SPIE VCIP. She has accomplished 6 copyright protected systems focused on multi-description signal codec,adaptive STDM security, color image enhancement, handwritten numeral recognition for lottery tickets, quality assessment of the live scan fingerprints, and craniofacial surgery prediction. She has been a Technical Program Co-Chair of IEEE ICCS2008. She has been funded by 2 China NNSF & 1 GDNSF and other projects as the chair researcher, and also a main researcher in GDNSF team project, projects for dedicated technology and Engineering Research Center of Education Ministry. She has received awards such as the Nature Science Award of Guangdong Province and the Distinguished Researcher of Guangzhou City.
