On the afternoon of December 17, 2024, the Department of Electronic Business and the Instituteof Digital Business & Intelligent Logistics, SCUT, hosted the 45th sessionof the Data Insights Forum in Room 101, B10 Building. The event featured akeynote lecture by Professor Jie Gao from Xi’an Jiaotong University.

ProfessorGao, renowned for his in-depth research in shared manufacturing, delivered anengaging academic presentation that captivated the audience. He began by focusingon the cutting-edge research in shared manufacturing, elaborating on howmanufacturing enterprises can transition and upgrade by building aplatform + small and micro-enterprise shared manufacturingecosystem in the digital era. Through longitudinal case studies, Professor Gaoand his team explored critical aspects of shared manufacturing, includingproduct design, production, and quality inspection, providing attendees withhighly valuable practical examples.
He further delved into the significance of knowledge-sharing models in sharedmanufacturing, analyzing the characteristics and interactions of knowledgesharing under different governance frameworks. Professorao G’s proposed collaborative governance model for shared manufacturing laid a theoretical foundation for cross-entity and cross-production-stage governance while broadening the academic perspectives of the attendees and deepening theirunderstanding of the shared manufacturing domain.
Afterthe lecture, participants,including faculty and students, expressed significantgains from the session. They gained deeper insights into shared manufacturingand a clearer grasp of future trends in manufacturing development. The eventprovided valuable academic resources and practical experiences, strongly advancing the research and development efforts of the Department of Electronic Business and the Institute of Digital Business & Intelligent Logistics, SCUT,in the field of shared manufacturing research.
