Wushan Campus Introduction

Located in the Shipai Higher Education Area of Tianhe District, Guangzhou, the Wushan Campus of South China University of Technology (SCUT) is the university’s main and oldest campus. Covering an area of 1.8292 million square meters with a total floor space of 1.0875 million square meters, the campus is situated on the former site of National Sun Yat-sen University at Shipai.

Nestled amid rolling hills and embraced by the East Lake, West Lake, North Lake, and South Lake, the campus is renowned for its picturesque landscape, where lush greenery, blooming flowers, and a harmonious blend of traditional and modern architecture create an inspiring academic environment. With its profound cultural heritage, the campus has been designated a “Civilized Campus” by the Ministry of Education of China.

A number of historic buildings from the Republic of China period, featuring distinctive Lingnan architectural styles, still stand on campus. Among them, the original National Sun Yat-sen University Archway, the University Motto Stone, and buildings such as No.5 Building (former College of Liberal Arts), No.7 Building (former College of Science), No.8 Building (former Department of Mechanical Engineering), No.9 Building, and No.12 Building (former College of Law) have been listed as Cultural Heritage Sites of Guangzhou.
