Abstract
Catalysts are the “chips” of the petrochemical industry, and supported catalysts account for more than 70% of the total, in which the support plays a particularly critical role, with alumina being the most widely used. At present, highend alumina supports and related technologies are completely monopolized by Germany and the United States, posing a threat to China’s petrochemical industrial chain and energy security. A complete set of key technologies and equipment for the controllable preparation of spherical aluminabased support materials with a narrow particlesize distribution has been developed, including oilcolumn shaping, microfluidic injection shaping, continuous extrusion shaping and oil–ammonia column shaping, enabling controllable preparation of particles with diameters from 0.1 to 3.0 mm. The resulting aluminabased support materials feature uniform particles, good wear resistance and excellent pore structures, which facilitate the stable and highly dispersed loading of active components; the large pore volume favors the preparation of materials with high loading, achieving a maximum Pd loading of 55% (55 wt% Pd/Al₂O₃, for hydrogen isotope separation), the highest value reported in the literature to date.
