Biography:

Chunyang Zhang is a Chief Professor and doctoral supervisor at Southeast University. He is a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, a leading scientist of the National Ten‑Thousand Talents Program for Scientific and Technological Innovation, and an expert entitled to the Special Government Allowance from the State Council. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from Peking University in 1999 and subsequently completed his post‑doctoral research at Tsinghua University. In 2001, he went to the United States and conducted research successively at Emory University, Johns Hopkins University and The City University of New York. He returned to China in 2009 and took up the position of Research Professor at the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He was selected for the Hundred Talents Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2010. He was awarded the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2013. In 2014, he was appointed Distinguished Professor under Shenzhen Pengcheng Scholar Program and selected as one of Guangdong Top‑One‑Hundred Talents. In 2015, he was included in the Innovative Talent Promotion Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology (Principal Investigator of the Key‑Field Innovation Team of the Ministry of Science and Technology). In 2017, he was recognized as a leading scientist of the National Ten‑Thousand Talents Program for Scientific and Technological Innovation.

His primary research interests lie in single‑molecule detection and imaging as well as their clinical applications. He has published more than 400 papers in internationally renowned journals including Nature Materials, Chemical Reviews, Journal of the American Chemical Society, Angewandte Chemie International Edition, Nano Letters, Chemical Science, and Analytical Chemistry. He has been repeatedly listed in Elsevier’s Highly Cited Chinese Researchers.
