On the afternoon of June 1, coinciding with the graduation of the first "Cosmetics Science and Technology Innovation Practice Class," the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at South China University of Technology held a warm award ceremony in the conference room on the fourth floor of the Yifu Engineering Building. Li Yingwei, Dean of the School; Huang Guoqing, Secretary of the Party Committee; Zheng Cunhui, Full-level Organizational Staff Member; Jiang Zhong, President of the Daily Chemical Industry Alumni Association; Cao Wei, Vice President Zeng Wanxiang; Council Member Fang Yongsheng; Secretary General Wang Shan; industry guest Yu Huiying; representatives of teaching faculty; and all students of the practice class attended the event. The event was hosted by Yu Hao, Vice Dean of the School.

Vice Dean Yu Hao introduced the achievements of the first Cosmetics Science and Technology Innovation Practice Class. From the perspectives of project implementation, curriculum construction, school-enterprise collaboration, and training effectiveness, Vice Dean Yu Hao comprehensively summarized the educational achievements of the first practice class. This practice class was jointly established by the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at SCUT and the Daily Chemical Industry Alumni Association in September 2024. The Alumni Association donated one million yuan to establish a special talent training fund, and the School allocated teaching funds in accordance with the university-level golden course standards, building a distinctive talent cultivation model of "industry posing questions, universities answering, and alumni enterprises supporting new engineering education." In terms of curriculum construction, the practice class offered six specialized courses including Principles and Techniques of Cosmetic Safety Evaluation, Cosmetics Laws and Regulations, and Cosmetic Design, Preparation and Industrialization, totaling 12 credits. During the program, a total of 12 sessions of industry mentor lectures were delivered, 11 enterprise field cognitive internships were organized, 4 industry thematic exchange meetings and 4 teaching seminars were held, comprehensively bridging the gap between classroom theory and industrial practice. In terms of teaching feedback, student satisfaction with the curriculum system and teaching faculty exceeded 96%, and the overall teaching quality received widespread recognition. At the same time, based on student surveys, the School also identified optimization directions such as curriculum coordination and practical training, laying a solid foundation for subsequent iterative training programs.

President Jiang Zhong delivered a speech, highly affirming the educational achievements of the first practice class, and stated that the Alumni Association will continue to deepen the exchange of school-enterprise resources and support the long-term cultivation of cosmetic professionals in universities. Full-level Organizational Staff Member Zheng Cunhui announced the list of award-winning students on site, with a total of 28 students receiving first, second, and third class scholarships. President Jiang Zhong, President Cao Wei, and Deputy Secretary Liu Caigang jointly presented honorary awards to the winning students. Su Keke, a representative of the award-winning students, shared her learning insights based on her own study and practical training experiences, recounting the growth and gains brought by course learning and enterprise visits. Council Member Fang Yongsheng shared industry insights with the students.

President Cao Wei's special sharing report

At the end of the ceremony, President Cao Wei of the Daily Chemical Industry Alumni Association delivered a special alumni sharing report titled "Outlook on Career Future from a Resource Perspective." Based on the current status and industrial background of the domestic beauty industry, President Cao Wei analyzed changes in industry talent supply and demand, and elaborated on personal resource accumulation, phased career planning, multi-track employment directions, and entrepreneurial risk avoidance, guiding students to rely on their professional knowledge, continuously accumulate knowledge, connections, and industry resources, and build core personal workplace competitiveness.

It is reported that the further study rate of the first practice class students reached 75%, and the class project was selected for the Guangdong Province Special Talent Training Program and the University's Famous Enterprise Practical Training Program 2.0. Moving forward, the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at South China University of Technology will continue to deepen school-enterprise integration of industry and education, relying on the industrial resources of the daily chemical alumni, continuously improve the cosmetics innovation talent training system, and deliver more composite science and innovation talents for the domestic cosmetics industry.
