[Brief profile]

Prof. Yan Ming received his B.Sc. in Chemistry from Sichuan University (1987), M.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from West China University of Medical Sciences (1992), and Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (1997). After post-doctoral work at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (1997–2000) and a visiting scholar appointment at the University of Arizona (2001–2003), he returned to China in 2003. He is now Professor and Ph.D. supervisor in the Laboratory of Medicinal Chemistry at Sun Yat-sen University, recruited under the university’s “Hundred Talents Program”. In 2006 he was selected for the Ministry of Education’s Program for New Century Excellent Talents, and in 2011 he was named a provincial-level talent of the “Thousand-Hundred-Ten” Project.   

He has published over 110 research articles in leading journals such as J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., J. Med. Chem., Org. Lett., J. Org. Chem., Chem. Commun., and Adv. Synth. Catal., and has filed 12 domestic and international patent applications.
