Youth is not old, and the years are fragrant – School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering holding the 2020 faculty emeritus ceremony
Black hair accumulates frost weaving the sun and moon, chalk silently writes spring and autumn. On the 6th January, the 2020 faculty emeritus ceremony of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering was held in the conference room of the Shaw Engineering Building. School Dean Zhengguo Zhang, Deputy Dean, Guoli Zhang, and member Honglin Wang from the Caring for the Next Generation Working Committee, attended the event. School Secretary of the Party Committee, Guomin Xu, presided over the ceremony.

On behalf of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Secretary Xu expressed his gratitude to 8 faculty members who retired this year for their contributions to the development of the school, and wished them a happy life after retirement. Afterwards, the school chiefs presented souvenirs to retired teachers Zhong Li, Huasheng Zou, Li Zhong, Weiping Tu, Xiangde Zeng, Caixia Wan, Shuofan Li and Yihui Lin. Finally, representatives of young teachers presented flowers.

Prof. Zhong Li, representing the retired staff, delivered a speech. He said that his life after retirement would change a lot, moving from his original job to his family. He then recalled his teaching career and lamented the hardships of the years. He also paid great respects to those teachers who gave their lives under hard conditions. In spite of the hard conditions, generations of teachers in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering made remarkable achievements. Currently, teachers in young generation still faced unprecedented challenges, but he believed that young teachers would rise to the challenge and contribute to the development of the school.

Deputy Dean, Guoli Zhang also made a speech on behalf of the school. She firstly expressed her envy for the college's emeritus ceremony, and affirmed the ceremony. She recalled her working time with 8 retired faculty members, and showed evidences about 8 retired faculty members how to make selfless dedication and achievements for the school under difficult conditions. She lamented the passing of time and gave new responsibilities to 8 retired faculty members who would continue to help the younger generation of students. At the end, she hoped them a very exciting life in retirement.

Finally, Secretary Xu once again expressed his gratitude to the eight retired faculty members. The emeritus ceremony officially ended in the warm applause of audiences.
