Prof. George Z. Chen

     George Z. Chen received his PhD (Univ. of London) and DIC (Diploma of Imperial College) in 1992. He carried out postdoc. research in Univs. of Oxford (1992), Leeds (1994), and Cambridge (1996). In Cambridge, he was promoted to Senior Research Associate (1998), elected to the Schlumberger Research Fellow (2000) and Official Fellow (2003) of Darwin College, and appointed as Assistant to of Research (2001). He joined the Univ. of Nottingham as Reader in 2003, and was promoted to Professor in 2009. He has been honoured as Invited Prof. (1st Class) of Univ. de la Mediterranee (2007), Specially Invited Prof. with the Cheung Kong Scholarship (2000) and Luojia Lecture Prof. (2004) of Wuhan Univ., Guest Prof. of Jiujiang Univ. (2008), and Guest Research Fellow of Ningbo Inst. Mater. Technol. & Eng., CAS (2010). He is entitled the designation letters of FRSC (2004), FRSA (2007), and FIMMM (2009). He has undertaken various state and industry funded research projects (e.g. EPSRC, Royal Society, MoST, MoSTI and E.On), with the outputs documented in over 450 publications, or adopted by the industry (e.g. The FFC Cambridge Process by Metalysis, and Supercapattery by E.On). He received numerous awards, including the Reactive Metals Technology Award (The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society, 2001 & 2004), the Brian Mercer Feasibility Award (The Royal Society, 2006), and the International Research Award for Energy Storage (E.On, 2008). The Web of Knowledge has reported 138 publications authored by Prof. Chen, and over 4740 citations with the h-index of 37.
