Prof.Gao Liu Dr. Gao Liu is a member of the Electrochemical Technologies Group at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Prof. Gao Liu received a Bachelor’s degree from Beijing University in 1993, and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Michigan State University in 2001. Dr. Gao Liu is a Principal Investigator in the Batteries for Advanced Transportation Technologies program at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), specialized in lithium battery research. Since he joined LBNL in 2001, Dr. Liu has led several high-profile energy storage research projects for the Department of Energy, and developed key technologies including conductive binders to improve battery performance. He has also collaborated with many companies to commercialize new battery technologies. Dr. Liu is the recipient of the Inaugural University of California Discovery Grant in 2012 and R&D100 award in 2013.
Information about the Electrochemical Technologies Group at LBNL:
The group combine synthetic polymer chemistry, composite engineering, and electrochemistry to solve the interdisciplinary problems in energy generation, storage, and usage. Now, the current research focuses on the lithium-ion battery and the advanced lithium battery system. We are the major contributor to the Exploratory Battery Materials Research (BMR) Program and Applied Battery Research (ABR) program of Vehicle Technologies Office of U.S. Department of Energy.
