Brief introduction to Prof. J. Caro:
Prof. Caro has worked in the research field of inorganic membrane and corresponding gas separation for a long time, who is known as a top scientist in this field. He is also the founder in the inorganic membrane field. After he got his Bachelor degree in Leipzig University in Chemistry in 1974, he worked on the molecular diffusion in the porous materials. He got his Doctor degree in 1977. Then, he worked in the Central Institute of Physical Chemistry of Academy of Sciences of German Democratic Republic (East Germany, DDR) in different positions on adsorption, catalysis, membranes. In 1992, he has been a leader of the Dept. “Advanced Materials” at the newly founded Institute of Applied Chemistry, Berlin-Adlershof with the working fields of polymeric and inorganic materials. From 2001, he got the full professor position in Institute of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry at Leibniz University Hannover, also as the institute president in the same year. From 2005 to 2006, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Germany catalysis society. In 2013, He got the prize of “Donald. W. Breck Award” and “Wilhelm Ostwal Metal”. In 2016, he was elected as Corresponding Member of the Saxon Academy of Sciences.
Prof. Caro has published 315 papers in high ranking journals, such as Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Adv. Mater., J. Mater. Chem. A, ACS Catal., ChemCatChem, Chem. Commun., J. Membr. Sci, including three invited reviews in Chem. Soc. Rev., 10 book chapters, which give more than 6800 citations and H factor of 51. He also applied 38 international, US, EP patents, and holds more than 180 projects. He is also appointed as the editor member for Adv. Mater.、Micropor. Mesopor. Mater.、Catal. Commun. He was invited to give the keynote or plenary talk in more than ten international academic conferences.
