

The 3rd International Chemical Process Safety Technical and Educational Forum was held in South China University of Technology on November 8th, 2015. Professor Qiu Xueqing, Vice President of South China University of Technology, Professor Chen Li of Teaching Steering Committee of Chemical Engineering and Technology of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Bertrand de La Noue, Chief Representative of Total Group in China, Mr. Jerome Taveau, science adviser of Fike Group, and executives of Praxair (China) Investment Co., Guangdong Province Petrochemical Design Institute, , etc were also invited to attend the forum.
The Forum was co-sponsored by the Teaching Steering Committee of Chemical Engineering and Technology of the Ministry of Education, South China University of Technology and Total Group, aiming to build an open platform to share the experience of education of chemical safety technology and chemical safety professionals for governments, enterprises, universities and so on. The forum attracted great attention of Total, Praxair, Fike Group, INVISTA and other well-known foreign companies.
The Forum was held in the morning and the Students Chemical Process Safety Design Competition was held in the afternoon. A special safety culture exhibition was also set up, including safety equipment displays, safety knowledge propaganda, safety knowledge quiz, etc, which attracted a large number of participants and students.
As Professor Qiu Xueqing, Vice President of South China University of Technology mentioned in the welcoming remarks, pointing out that it is important to build a platform to share the experience of education in chemical safety by industry experts in their respective areas; and at the same time, to further reinforce the safety of chemical production through the support and promotion of the State Safety Supervision Administration and other government-related agencies. As a key polytechnic university in China, it is important for us to train students with safety awareness and engineering ability. We’ll focus on training students about safety awareness and the formation of the concept of safe production in the future.
In the Students Chemical Process Safety Design Competition in the afternoon, six teams from China University of Petroleum (East China), Sichuan University, Hunan University, Xiamen University, Southwest University of Petroleum, and South China University of Technology competed for the final prize from 22 universities. Ultimately, Torch team from China University of Petroleum (East China) won the prize.
It is reported that the Forum is an exchange activity of Chemical Process Safety Center of South China University of Technology. Cooperation will be made in the fields of chemical safety training courses, school-enterprise research projects and other aspects while attracting more socially responsible companies to promote chemical engineer culture and socialization.
