Brief introduction to Dr. Zhiqiang Ma:
Dr. Zhiqiang Ma is currently a Senior Research Associate with Prof. Chuo Chen at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. With a longstanding interest for natural product synthesis originated from Lanzhou University, where he got his bachelor degree in 2001, then he went to Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry (SIOC) and completed his graduate research with his supervisor Prof. Hongbin Zhai in 2007. In the same year, he started his postdoc career with Prof. Chen. After seven-year persistent effort, eventually, he finished assymmetric synthesis of massadine, revised absolute configurations of two natural products sceptrin and ageliferin and proposed a new biosynthetic enantiodivergence pathway for the whole pyrrole-Imidazole alkaloids as well (seeScience,2014,346, 219-224).
