About Jason Ho:
Dr. Jason Ho is a landscape architect, artist, curator and educator. He founded the renowned mapping workshop, a social action group that spans design, art, and anthropology. Jason Ho received his PhD degree from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia. He has previously taught at the University of Pennsylvania in the United States, the University of Hong Kong, and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. He is currently an associate professor at the School of Architecture, South China University of Technology, a doctoral supervisor at the Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts London in the United Kingdom, and an adjunct professor at the School of Architecture and Urban Design at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
Jason Ho’s works have been exhibited at the Venice Biennale, the Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism in South Korea, the Shenzhen–Hong Kong Bi-City Biennale, the Macau International Art Biennale, the Guangzhou Design Triennial, the Museo Marino Marini in Italy, and the Melbourne Design Centre, among others.
In 2014, Jason Ho initiated the Mapping Workshop. Since then, more than 200 Mapping Workshops have been held at over 100 universities around the world, including world-renowned institutions such as Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Hong Kong, Tamkang University in Taiwan, and Peking University.
In 2018, China’s People’s Daily published a special commentary on Jason Ho’s social innovation design concepts. From 2020 to 2024, China Central Television (CCTV) Documentary Channel and News Channel each produced four special programs on Jason Ho’s Mapping Workshops. In 2019, Jason Ho was awarded the title of “Guangzhou Figure of the Year” by Southern Metropolis Daily. In 2021, he was named “Artist of the Year” by New Weekly. In 2023, he received the “Australia–China Annual Community Service Award” jointly presented by the Australian Embassy in China and ACAA.
