On Sep. 23, 2016, the Solar Decathlon China (SDC) ceremony of agreement between South China university of Technology (SCUT) and Politecnico di Torino (POLITO) was held in Jianzhu Honglou, School of Architecture. Executive deputy dean of School of Architecture, Prof. Sun Yimin, Party Secretary, Mr. Si Jumin, Vice Party Secretary, Ms. Luo Lihong, Assistant Prof. Mauro Berta from POLITO, representative of Consulate General of Italy, Ms. Gloria Plazzotta, representative of Cultural Affairs Office, Ms. Cristina Huang, representatives from those pioneer companies of green building technologies, medias, tutors and students of South China-Torino joint team attended the ceremony. 

Prof. Sun Yimin and Assistant Prof. Mauro Berta gave remarks respectively. They reviewed the SDC 2013 and the close cooperation between the two Universities and the Collaboration Lad, encouraged the joint team could link art and technology, test experimental architecture and market promotion together during the competition in 2017. 

After speeches, the two professors signed a Final Cooperation Agreement.

Afterward, representatives of the joint team and supporting companies took a round table forum, had a discussion on sponsorship program, technical support and future school-enterprise cooperation. The contractor of the SDC 2013, the Overseas Department of China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd., Mr. Yan Pingyu, expressed his support for construction engineering in 2017. Well-known building component manufacturers and alumni enterprises, such as, Velux, Three River Field etc., offered lots of useful opinions and suggestions.

The SDC aims to construct a full-featured, comfortable, livable, sustainable integrated solar residential building with world top R & D, technical, creativity and design of design team, applies the result to the construction of new urbanization and science and technology incubator base. The joint team has already gone into the final stage and will have a competition of each college teams around the world in the main stadium, Dezhou, Shandong in August 2017.
