On Sep. 21-22, the 2016 Annual Conference on Education of Urban and Rural Planning in China (National Steering Committee on Urban and Rural Planning Discipline) was held in Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology.

The annual event provided a platform for academic exchanges and presentations for all universities in China, attracted over 400 experts and scholars discussed in aspects of the development of the discipline, theoretical teaching, practices, teaching methods, etc., on the theme of “New Normal·New Planning·New Education”. It also held a students’ works competition on urban design, social practice and comprehensive research of urban and rural, and innovation traffic system.

The School of Architecture kept performing outstanding in the unit of urban design competition, won excellent awards of students’ works competition. The department of urban planning selected 12 works. Among them, 2 received second prizes and 1 honorable prize in urban design; 2 received third prizes and 3 honorable prizes in the comprehensive survey report of urban and rural social practice; 1 received honorable prize in transportation innovation practice contest. All selected works are awarded in the unit of urban design and the comprehensive survey report of urban and rural social practice, which is the best achievement of our school recently.

The Party Secretary, Mr. SI Jumin, Professor WANG Shifu and colleagues, totally 5 tutors took part in the conference. Associate Professor WEI kai and Dr. LI Xin, won excellent awards for their research papers.
