On the morning of 23, January, the Seminar of Modern Architecture Creation and the Awarding Ceremony of Honorary Dean for the School of Architecture -SCUT, Academician Prof. HE Jingtang, was held at HE Jingtang Studio. Academician, the president of SCUT, Prof. WANG Yingjun, Academicians, Prof. HE Jingtang and Mr. MENG Jianmin, Deputy-president Prof. PENG Xinyi, deans from important domestic architectural schools, delegates from architectural industry, university offices, the School of Architecture, totally more than 50 guests attended the ceremony.

President Prof. WANG awarded the nameplate of honorary dean to Prof. HE, and the certification of part-time Ph. D tutor of Architectural Design and Theory to Mr. MENG respectively.

Deputy President PENG introduced both Academicians’ achievements, encouraged them to keep on making contribution to architectural discipline development and education. Academician HE has been the President of School of Architecture, SCUT for 19 years, led the school staff to be responsible, enterprising, creative and diligent. Under the leadership of HE, a great number of achievements emerged from the school in discipline development, team development, talent development, scientific research, and social service and etc. Academician MENG was appointed as a part-time Prof. and a part-time Master tutor of School of Architecture, SCUT in 2008, started to recruit master student in 2009, as well as the member of academic committee of State Key Laboratory of Subtropical Building Science, has made great contribution on education, industry and research.

Academicians HE and MENG made speeches. Both of them appreciated the university, expressed their future continuous concern for the development of the school.

The opening ceremony of the Modern Architecture Creative Research Center and the seminar of Modern Architecture Creation were held after the awarding ceremony. Experts discussed freely on the topics of theories and practices in modern architectural creation.
