
Basic Introduction
Huang Duo, male, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Urban Planning, School of Architecture, South China University of Technology. He holds a Ph.D. in Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing from the State Key Laboratory of Information Engineering in Surveying, Mapping and Remote Sensing at Wuhan University. He leads and participates in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses such as Principles and Applications of GIS, Urban Engineering Systems Planning, and Urban Spatial Development Planning.
His research and practice span artificial intelligence and digital technology, territorial spatial and urban-rural planning, ecological resilience and urban safety, and urban municipal engineering system planning and design. He has published nearly 40 papers, led one sub-project of a National Key R&D Program of China project, presided over three provincial/ministerial-level projects including an open project from the State Key Laboratory of Resources and Environmental Information System, participated in three National Natural Science Foundation of China projects and two provincial/ministerial-level projects, and directed over 80横向 projects. As first inventor, he has obtained five authorized invention patents in big data and ecology-related fields. His awards include the Third Prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of the Urban Planning Society of China (2025), the Second Prize of Huaxia Construction Science and Technology Award (2024, ranked first), the Third Prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of the Urban Planning Society of China (2024), the Excellence Award of the First Shanhai Cup National Territorial Spatial Digital Scenario Tool Innovation Competition (2024), the Third Prize of National Outstanding Urban and Rural Planning and Design Award (2022), the Second Prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of the Urban Planning Society of China (2022), the Second Prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of the Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture (2020), the First Prize of Guangdong Outstanding Urban Planning and Design Award (2019), and the First Prize of Guangdong Outstanding Urban and Rural Planning and Design Award (2019). In the field of artificial intelligence research, he has delivered over ten speeches at national conferences since 2023. The AI knowledge base management and planning decision support software he developed has been deployed at the Guangzhou Urban Planning and Design Survey Research Institute and other units, where it is now operational within practical business systems.
Research Interests
He has conducted research and practical applications across diverse fields and technical systems, encompassing four specialized areas: artificial intelligence and digital technology, territorial spatial and urban-rural planning, ecological resilience and urban safety, and urban municipal engineering system planning and design. His current research focuses on fundamental theories, technical frameworks, software development, and practical implementation of artificial intelligence in urban planning management and decision-making.
