The Department Director of Landscape Architecture at the Pennsylvania State University Prof. Ron Henderson visited SCUT

On Oct. 11, prof. Ron Henderson, the department director of landscape architecture at the Pennsylvania State University, paid a visit to South China University of Technology (SCUT) and had a deep communication with the director of school of architecture, SCUT.
During the morning meeting, both of them deeply introduced their respective department of landscape architecture, historical development, teaching current situation, and exchanged precious ideas in terms of curriculum provision, course reform, academic exchange, student exchange.
In the evening, prof. Ron Henderson gave an excellent lecture to our faculties and students on the title of “First, the Land”. In the lecture, he explained and analyzed the ideal model of garden city in depth and introduced his three latest landscape projects.
Prof. Ron Henderson, who is the professor of landscape architecture and Asian studies, the member of ASLA, and the founder of the company L+A Landscape Architecture, was awarded the “creative art” prize by U.S. - Japan Friendship Commission in 2012 for the academic study on Japan, and he ever wrote a book named the Gardens of Suzhou. He is the BArch of University of Notre Dame and the MLA and March of University of Pennsylvania. This is his first time to visit our University. He hopes for more opportunities to communicate and cooperate with SCUT in the future.
