On Nov. 6, School of Architecture of South China University of Technology (SCUT), Department of architecture of Tokyo Institutet of Technology(TIT), TIT Museum co-sponsored the exhibition of professor, architect Kazuo Shinohara in No.27 building, North Hall. Experts and scholars from TIT, Tsinghua University, Tongji University, Southeast University, Tianjing University, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Guangdong University of Technology, Shenzhen University, architectural magazine like NEW ARCHITECTURE and URBAN ARCHITECTURE attended the activities.
Totally 131 exhibition panels and 9 groups of models were put on display, showing Shinohara's four styles in transitional process. Some of the works are first shown in China. The exhibition will be last till the beginning of January, 2014.
In the same day, an affiliated seminar about the re-reading of Shinohara was also held to discuss the topic of Shinohara's understanding on the urban and architectural themes.
Kazuo Shinohara, one of the most influential architects in Japan in the second half of the 20th century, taught in the Department of architecture of TIT for a long time. He was the only person who had been granted Venice Biennale Memorial Award exceptionally after pass away. His research was rooted in traditional Japanese architecture. In his 50 years of creation, his unique architectural logic which lied outside the international mainstream, has influenced every generation of architects in Japan and overseas.
