Prof. Eckart Lange, Head of Department of Landscape, University of Sheffield Visited Our School

On Januray 9th to 12th, as an overseas academic master of the Technologic Talents Attracting Project of School Foreign Affairs Office, Prof. Eckart Lange, head of department of landscape from University of Sheffield,paid a visit to our school and made a symposium.
On the morning of 10th, Prof. Eckart Lange had a meeting with teachers and doctoral students from department of landscape, school of architecture,SCUT. He gave a detailed introduction on the management relation between department of landscape and its school, types of teachers, research direction, degree system, curriculum system and training program for students and so on. Meanwhile, our school representative teachers introduced the basic situation of the subject, including history, structural setting, research direction, teaching methods, student awards…
In the afternoon, he visited State Key Laboratory of Subtropical Building Science SCUT and Guangzhou Key Laboratory of Landscape Architecture, and had a communication on possible cooperation in terms of scientific research.
In the evening, he presented a public lecture in the Reporting Hall, Shaw Building of Humanities on the topic of “Visual Representation and Beyond in Planning and Design”, explored the relation between visual images and real scene, summarized the expression ways under visual angle of this department history, showed his long time research fruits on visual representation.
On the morning of 11th, in the Reporting Hall, Shaw Science Building, he gave a lecture on the theme of “Incorporating Design, Planning and Management in Landscape Architecture Education as a Response to the Changing Academic and Professional Needs”, explained the background, direction and methods of education evolution in his school.
After this communication, our teachers and students knew more about educational system of department of landscape, University of Sheffield, as well as the landscape research progress of international virtual visual.
