Associate Professor Kirsten Ritchie from California Institute of the Arts Paid an Academic Visit to SCUT
On April 16, 2014, Kirsten Ritchie, associate professor in California Institute of the Arts and director of sustainable design, Gensler, visited our school.
At 10am, in the reporting hall on the second floor, Shaw Building of Humanities, she gave a lecture on the theme of “The Fortune 500 and Sustainable Real Estate: What firms like Google, Starbucks, Salesforce and Microsoft are doing to drive high performance, sustainable workplaces around the world”, deeply explained the definition, types, the function, grading system and global influence of LEED through a series of professional data combined with relevant cases of the Fortune 500(like, Google, Wal-Mart, Facebook and so on). She emphasized we need to choose healthy material to reduce the existence of poison in the workplace, and make full use of the sunlight, so as to make sure the environment is more healthy and comfortable. After the lecture, she had a discussion and took a photo with our students and teachers.
