Attached description of the first prize work:
In the context of rapid urbanization of Guangzhou, the airport has cut the connection between Cen village(岑村)and urban centers , hence Cen village could not get a good development opportunity to complete its urbanization. In recent years, the utilization rate of Cen village airport has gradually declined, and it is about to be discarded. Against the background of a large population migration into the city, affordable housing has met the needs of the rural population who want to make a living in the city. Therefore, a large external population rented houses in Cen village, triggering the construction area of Cen village to be expanded, the farmland and woodland were occupied, and environmental deterioration was caused. Nowadays, Cen village has become the edge of city, a typical ‘arrival city’ of Guangzhou region, even China. Through field research, the students have found that Cen village’s dilemma is reflected in three aspects: environment, community and city location. Meanwhile, the rich water resources have become the superiority of Cen village’s development. More importantly, after Cen village airport has been abandoned, the release of open space provides new opportunities for the development of Cen village. Therefore, by building landscape infrastructure, the work ‘An Arrival City of To-morrow--Regeneration of village in Guangzhou city by landscape infrastructure’ uses waste airport to build a low cost, ecological, equitable urban open space, so as to stimulate the revival of Cen village, the arrival city.
