Dr. Li, Ling-Hin, associate professor of Department of Real Estate & Construction, The University of Hong Kong, started his one-week visit in SCUT on Nov. 24, 2014, who was invited to have seminar and lectures in Faculty of Architecture under the SCUT Visiting Lecturer Programme.
The seminar named “Land Policies and Real Estate Market in Hong Kong” highlighted Dr. Li Ling Hin’s visit in SCUT. In the afternoon of Nov. 26, 2014, Dr. Li introduced the land system of Hong Kong including the land ownership, land supply system, changes of land policies after the Handover in 1997 and the role of government in the real estate market. How Outline Zoning could be altered by application under special circumstance such as urban renewal had been discussed to enlighten the new challenge of urban planning in contemporary China.
Lectures on “Housing and Cities” and “Real Estate Development and Land Policies” were conducted to the undergraduate and graduate students from Urban Planning in the week. Dr. Li believed the visit promotes a good cooperation between HKU and SCUT in the future.
Dr. Li is currently Deputy Head of the Department of Real Estate and Construction, the University of Hong Kong. A land policy specialist and a Fulbright Hong Kong Scholar, Dr. Li has wide range of research interests in social and economic aspects of land use policy, more specifically in the areas of urban land regeneration; impact of the built environment and urban development. Dr. Li has written extensively on land use policies in Hong Kong and in Mainland China with a total of 40 papers published in various international and professional journals, together with seven academic books. Dr. Li’s research has been widely supported by various government and private sector grants.
