
The Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) published 521 valid candidates of Academician in 2015. Prof. WU Qingzhou from the School of Architecture, as well as Prof. WANG Yingjun, Prof. ZHAO Mouming, was nominated by present Academicians.
In 2014, CAE amended the supplement regulation for Academicians to keep the scholarly and honorary nature. According to the amended regulation, in next June, CAE will publish the result of the first round review, and finish investigations for listed candidates who enter the second round by July. In October, there will be the second round review. Official candidates selected from this round will go through an ultimate voting by all present Academicians and finally be elected. Candidates from Universities, research institutes, enterprises and army will be nominated by present Academicians and the China Association for Science and Technology.
Prof. WU Qingzhou is the Ph. D tutor from the School of Architecture. He concentrates on the field of Architectural and Urban disaster prevention, urban history, architectural history and theory. He is the first Ph. D in Architectural history and theory cultured after liberation in China, works long term in theoretical and practical fields on architectural history and heritage conservation. Prof. WU inherits the research on Chinese architectural history, which was initiated by pioneers Prof. LIANG Si-cheng, Prof. LIU Dunzhen, Prof. LONG Qingzhong, insists exploratory practices on heritage conservation, develops the study of Chinese ancient urban history as well as the conservation of historic cities, towns and villages, breaks new ground in urban flood control, urban and architectural disaster prevention. He took charge of 3 NSFC projects, 3 PFDR projects, attended 1 8th Five-Year Plan key project of NSFC. He wrote 9 books, total number of 5.99 million words, and published 235 papers. He took charge of more than 50 heritage conservation projects, won 12 awards above provincial level, including the highest award of 2011 UNESCO Asian Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation. Prof. WU received the special government allowance of the state council in 1992.
