On the morning of November 3, to celebrate the 80th anniversary of architecture discipline, SCUT held a ceremony in International Conference Hall of Liwu Science & Technology Building. SONG Chunhua, former vice minister of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and director of Architectural Society of China, LI Zhuobin, vice president of All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and vice chairman of China Zhi Gong Party, XU Ruisheng, deputy provincial governor of Guangdong Province, CHEN Jianhua, mayor of Guangzhou, SHI Anhai, former vice chairman of Guangdong People's Political Consultative Conference, and school leaders DU Xiaoming, WANG Yingjun and PENG Xinyi attended the ceremony. 9 academicians of architecture  from Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, 8 national excellent project survey and design masters, nearly 80 people including deans of School of Architecture, leading experts, professors and architects, alumni representatives from all walks of life, teacher and student representatives also  participated in the ceremony.

Firstly, the ceremony played an elaborate video to review its 80 years’ history. Then two distinguished guests were invited to make speeches: one was 102-year-old lady ZENG Yuxiu, wife of LONG Qingzhong, who was the first doctoral supervisor of School of Architecture; the other was 95-year-old retired teacher ZOU Aiyu, who enrolled the National Sun Yat-sen University’s Department of Architectural Engineering in 1938 as the first group of students.
 
After the ceremony, School of Architecture hosted the 19th Contemporary Chinese Architecture Forum till the next day.
