Recently, students of SCUT School of Architecture has done greatly in the 2009 Revit Cup National Design Competition of Architecture Students.  Six of the selected works sent by the school have won Award of Excellence, making the school ranked third in the awards table.  This was the fourth year winning in the Revit Cup as well as continuously being one of the top-ranking schools in the competition. 
This year's Revit Cup NDCAS has received 478 entries from 73 schools (including The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Taiwan Feng Chia University).  159 pieces of selected works from 48 universities have been granted Award of Excellence by experienced professors and architects from all over the country.  Within the six winning works sent by SCUT, two of them were works done by Chen Weilu.  Her works show proficient presentation skills and firm foundation, which help to make great impression to the award committees.  The noticeable achievements done by the students of SCUT has proved that the creative teaching methods used in school, the holistic approach to design education, the attentions to building technique and practices, has showed their results.
Meanwhile, on the National Design Competition of Urban Planning Students, SCUT has sent works from students of Grade 2005, and won urban design works runner-up and two honorable mentions, and another two honorable mentions on social reports and surveys.  This also made SCUT  one of the top-ranking schools in this category.
Both of the  Revit Cup National Design Competition of Architecture Students and National Design Competition of Urban Planning Students have been organized by professional committees and were recognized nationally.  It has been held annually since 2002 in order to rise chances for exchanges of ideas between different schools of architecture and motivate students creativities.
