After  decades of construction and development, our school architecture has  become the country, especially in southern China, an important base for  education and scientific research for the country and local training a  large number of solid professional quality of the architectural  disciplines, gave birth to Mo Bozhi, She Junnan, Yu Bai Sheng, Zhang  Youqi, He Jingtang, Wu Shuoxian and other six academicians and Yuan  Peihuang, Li Tuo Fen, Zhao Zuwang, Rao Weicun, Ni Yang and other eleven  national engineering survey and design master. Laboratory  existing architectural design science, construction technology science,  construction technology and other three experimental centers, under the  modern architectural creation, eco-city and green building, digital  technology, traditional architectural culture and protection, building  thermal environment and building energy efficiency, construction Sound  and light environment, efficient and green engineering, engineering  structure disaster prevention and mitigation, engineering structure life  monitoring and management, coastal soft soil underground structure,  urban and rural environmental engineering sub-laboratory 11  sub-laboratory. With the international advanced level of scientific  research equipment 1285 Taiwan (sets), the total value of 116.92 million  yuan. Of which more than 300,000 yuan of scientific research equipment  83 (sets). The total laboratory area of nearly 20,000 square meters.  There are 81 fixed researchers in the laboratory, including 2  academicians, 3 Distinguished Professors from the Yangtze River Scholar,  2 from the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scientists, 2  from the National Talent Project, and the National Survey and Design  Master 4, the Ministry of Education of the new century talent 7,  Guangdong Province, Zhujiang scholars distinguished professor 3,  Guangdong Province, thousands of talent project national training  object 3, the provincial training object 7, school-level training object  23 people. There are five postdoctoral stations in architecture, urban  and rural planning, landscape architecture, civil engineering, and  mechanics and so on.

The  main research work of the laboratory is closely related to the major  needs of the national economic and social development. According to the  background of the construction and urbanization of the well-off society  in our country, we focus closely on the overall goal of ecological  livable urban and rural planning and green building. Construction and  civil engineering disciplines in the field of international and domestic  development trends, highlighting the subtropical regional  characteristics, from the ecological livable urban and rural planning  and design theory, building physical environment and energy  conservation, disaster prevention and mitigation, ecological environment  and other aspects of collaborative research to explore the building  science And engineering in the field of major scientific and technical  issues, achieved a high level of independent innovation results, and  promote China and the international related areas of technological  progress. The core research directions include: ① subtropical space  environment and architectural design; ② subtropical building physical  environment and building energy efficiency; ③ subtropical building  structure and disaster prevention and mitigation.

In  recent years, under the strong support of the school 211 Project and  985 Project, the State Key Laboratory of Subtropical Building Science,  under the leadership of Academician He Xunxian and Academician Wu  Shuoxian, has a large number of young and middle-aged academic leaders  to stand out in scientific research and team building , Discipline  construction, personnel training and other aspects of laboratory  construction have made considerable progress and rapid development of  social awareness and influence has been greatly improved, showing a very  good leap forward development momentum. Since 2013 has undertaken  various types of scientific research projects 379, of which 43  provincial and ministerial level projects, scientific research contract  total funding of more than 41.58 million yuan; published academic papers  640, of which three index included 336; monographs and textbooks 20;  Application or authorization of 149 patents; access to provincial and  ministerial level scientific research awards 68, including 25 scientific  and technological awards (including the National Science and Technology  Progress Award 2, the 16th China Patent Award 1, Guangdong Science and  Technology Outstanding Contribution Award 1, the provincial and  ministerial level science and technology award first prize 5, second  prize 3, third prize 3), architectural planning and design field of  various types of awards 35 (including national awards 3, Ministerial  awards 35).
