The school is committed to conducting high-quality undergraduate/graduate educations and comprehensive researches in the fields of pulp and paper engineering, resource and environmental science, printing and packaging engineering, and biomass-based science and engineering, through offering innovative curricula, industrial extensions, and excellent teaching and research facilities.The school is aiming at serving a wider paper making, printing technology and biorefinery communities.

With a team of 107 faculty and staff actively engaged in teaching and research in various branches of pulp and paper making, printing technology and biorefinery technology, the School has established extensive academic cooperation with universities and industries in China and overseas. We are striving to develop new research areas through the recruitment of new faculty members with diverse backgrounds and expertises. These will add to the existing research strengths and collaborations within the School as well as other schools/departments in the SCUT.

Along with these efforts, we aim to maintain our award-winning excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We provide our 500 undergraduate and graduate students with well-designed innovative and curriculum and modern learning facilities. Our programs prepare students for careers and for further studies, and offer exploration in a field of study for personal and intellectual reasons. Many of our student research projects won awards from a number of professional societies.
