Key Research Areas

·Intelligent condition monitoring and fault diagnosis for power apparatus, including power transformers, high-voltage circuit breakers and transmission lines.

·Renewable energy integration in power grids, including wind farm modelling and its protection, maximum power point tracking for solar and wind power, wind power integration and its control.

·Multiple-criteria evaluation methods for power system assessment, including evolutionary computation, evidential reasoning, fuzzy ontology, etc.

·Smart grid technologies, including big data analysis, multi-agent systems, cyber-physical systems, etc.

Research Outcomes

·Between 2000 and 2017, he has published over 90 papers in English (40 SCI papers, 1 Springer monograph and 4 book chapters, citations over 1380 times in GoogleScholar), in which 50 papers are as “First author/Corresponding author and 40 papers are as “Co-author”.

·Between 2013 and 2017 in the SCUT-China post, as the Principle Investigator he obtained research grants in total of RMB 7,690,000, including 4 national-level grants.

·Between 2006 and 2013 in the UoL-UK post, he was the Principal Investigator of 4 research grants (total £256,097), including one EPSRC grant.

·He was invited to chair conference panel sessions and as keynote speakers for 12 times between 2004 and 2017.

·Until 2017, he has obtained five China Patents with Notification of Acceptance.
