Established in 2003,the New Energy Research Center (NERC) is a syntheses research base integrating wind power generation, solar power generation and eco-environmental control. The NERC is located in north district of the campus covering approximately 2,500 square meters. It consists of several closely interconnected laboratories furnished with advanced instruments, equipment and software, including wind power generation laboratory, solar power generation laboratory, power electronics laboratory, automation greenhouse laboratory, solar electric vehicles laboratory, grid-connected control laboratory and special motors laboratory.
There are 9 full-time staff members with high academic achievements on theory and engineering of automatic control and power electronics, 3 among them are professor, 3 are associate professor and 3 are lecturer. They formed a unity, full-of-innovation and hard working academic team with famous scientists of international reputations and joined youths talent. With its abundant research power, the NERC has undertaken and finished more than 50 academic research projects granted by national and provincial science funds, including the National Natural Science Foundation, the National 863 Program, the National Key Basic Research (973) sub-project of Guangdong province, "Tenth Five-Year Plan" major projects, Guangdong Natural Science Foundation and corporate research projects and so on. By the January, 2010, the NERC has published more than 600 papers, 7 academic books and 30 domestic or overseas patents. Noteworthily, NERC is the most important unit of Guangdong province Key Laboratory of Green Technology.
