Objectives
Students under this program are expected to acquire a solid theoretical foundation and systematic professional knowledge of power generation, transmission and supply and automation in the field of electric power system; who have the capability of independent analysis and the ability of solving technical problems in the field; who possess the scientific attitude and style of work of rigorous and practical nature; who are proficient in one foreign language and able to read references in foreign languages; who are capable of undertaking researches, teaching or engineering technology jobs in research institutes, educational departments and companies of related fields.

Cultivation Mode
Students are required to draw up a working plan under the instruction of supervisors in the two weeks after registration and bound to participate in the stage assessment between the 13th and the 16th weeks in the third semester according toMaster Degree Candidate Medium-Term Screening Method of South China University of Technology and complete social practices before the 20th week in the third semester. Regular seminar reports are required. In-service graduates are excused from the required social practice.
Dissertation
Students are required to draw up the working plan of thesis writing and prepare Thesis Proposals between the 11th and 20th weeks in the third semester. Before applying for Thesis Defense, graduates are required to publish officially at least one academic paper in core journals both at home and abroad, or to have papers published or recruited in the paper collections of both national and international academic conferences. Thesis defense will be arranged according to Rules for the Implementation of Graduation Degrees of South China University of Technology and Regulations of the Applications for Thesis Defense of South China University of Technology on the completion of theses.
