SEC Undergraduates Won the Third Prize in 2019 Creative Ideas on Tourism Competition

The 9th Trilateral Tourism Ministers' Meeting among the P.R.China, Japan and the Republic of Korea was held in Songdo Convention Center in Inchon, South Korea, on 29-30th August 2019. China's Minister of Culture and Tourism, Luo Shugang, and ministers in South Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Japan's Ministry of Land, Transportation and Tourism attended the meeting and delivered keynote speeches.


On the occasion of this meeting, the Future Generation Forum and University Creative Tourism Contest were also held smoothly. This Contest invited future tourism talents -- undergraduates and masters from China, Japan and the Republic of Korea, offering opportunities for harmonious exchanges and formulate tourism development plans among three countries. Three parties respectively selected 10 teams (30 students) to participate in the competition, which was divided into poster, video and proposal groups. Three SCUT undergraduates from the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management of SEC --   Li Kehanfei (2016), Deng Huizhi (2016) and Li Yuxiao (2017) were shortlisted out of 360 Chinese teams with other teams from  Zhejiang University, Sun Yat-sen University,  Beijing Foreign Studies University and the University of International Business and Economics. The creative poster of SCUT students named Road of Tea with the theme of Journey of Tea Culture won the third prize, which is tied with Sun Yat-sen University. The Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management in SCUT is licensed as a university-level international pilot in 2011. And it has been devoting to international education and major construction from then on.

During the meeting, three prize winners of SCUT were invited to attend the dinner of trilateral exchanges in which they shared experience in tourism development with governmental and non-governmental delegations from China, Japan and Republic of Korea. In the end, all participants took a group photo and received certificates and prizes issued by the sponsor, South Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
