Students undertake field research in Guangdong rural areas

Supported by Guangdong Tourism Bureau and co-organized by The School of Economics and Commerce, Guangdong Tourism Press and Guangdong rural tourism development and upgrade research group jointly, the opening ceremony and training program of College Students Go to Investigate in Guangdong Rural Areas were launched on Jul.8 in university town campus. Delegations of Guangdong Tourism Bureau, Guangdong Tourism Press and SCUT, along with more than 200 representatives from 32 universities and institutes joined in the activity.

Wen Xingjun, deputy-director general of GTB pointed out that college students were enjoying special days of youth and it was an important step for them to go to investigate in rural areas and make an exploration on Chinese peasants’ life, from which they could understand the society and the national situation better and achieve self-worth. And he also predicted that rural tourism was becoming one of the main channels to increase peasants’ income and encouraged students to devote into the rural tourism.

Liu Zhisong, director of Guangdong Tourism Press, spoke highly of the exploration activity. He hoped that students could upgrade their own value while explored in the fields. Yang Yiren, deputy secretary of CPC SEC Committee, expressed his hope that students should keep pace with rural development.

Wu Zhicai, associate professor of SEC and project leader of the program, introduced the background and organization of the program. Invited guests and student representatives launched the opening ceremony together by watering the color sands. In the ceremony, the WeChat official account Guangdong Rural Observation was published.
