On May 6, the “Design City” Seminar, which was co-organized by Guangzhou Social Science Association and South China University of Technology, and got supports from social and science department of SCUT, the school of architecture of SCUT and City View magazine, was held in SCUT. About 200 scholars from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Sun Yat-Sen University and SCUT etc., and government officials attended the seminar. Concerning on how to promote Guangzhou’s global influence and how to construct hub-network space responding city, scholars made keynote speeches and proposed effective suggestions in discussion sector.
Professor DING Huanfeng, from School of Economics and Commerce, took part in the seminar. He mentioned in the discussion sector that Guangzhou ranked among the top in the list of Human Development Index Evaluation, however, in the related evaluation index of international financial center, Guangzhou just ranked 35, which indicated that there was a gap in industrialization, innovation and entrepreneurship between Guangzhou and other first-tier cities.
